munchies

i love to snack

(understatement!)

but rather than reach for the cookie jar

or the bag of chips,

i have been trying to choose for healthy options.

And this is one of my recent favourites.

spice roasted chickpeas

(you might know them as garbanzo beans).
A can of chickpeas, washed, drained and sprinkled with spices of your choice

(I use cumin, pepper and cayenne)

and a teaspoon of olive oil.

Tossed together and in the oven on high for about half an hour

and they come out looking like this

and are crunchy and yummy and addictive.

But hey, getting addicted to this

has got to be better than a packet of oreos a day, right?

I make them, I love them too but not the canned chick peas. I use the dried ones after soaking them overnight.

I never think of things like this for a snack. Your photos make them look pretty good so I think it's worth a try.
