on facebook updates and report cards

In the bookstore today, I overhear (yes, I was eavesdropping) this conversation between two people:

A: Okay I think I am ready to go. I will just get this one. What about you?
B: I will get these three books. This one has got lots of funny facebook status updates I can just enter every day. I have used almost every one of the quotes in the previous booklet I got.
A: Oh, are your facebook statuses from a book?
B: Of course! Sometimes I will change some details, but I got it all from a book. Cool, huh? Then this book has got lots of ideas for comments to write in students' report cards. I always end up writing the same things for my students, so I think this year I will suprise everyone and write down comments from this book.
A: Good idea!

And as the woman continues to explain what her third book choice is, I stand there surprised, and also feeling a little sorry for this woman ... and even sorrier for the children she must teach. I wonder if she has on her bedside, a book of conversations to have with her significant other... because she clearly doesn't seem to have the originality to come up with anything on her own.

Gasp!

N, that's pitiful! I can't believe people, sometimes, can you? but, there must be enough people who do the same if there are whole books written....

I am 'back'! =D

I've had more than one hurricane blow through my life, in the last two months. Happily, they blew away the things that were gobbling me up whole! and there is a lovely peace and restoration after the storm, that's come into my life!

I hope that you are well!=]

I will be reading through your post, throughout today - there were some photos of your trip that I was SO looking forward to seeing - I am NOT going to miss them; so, into this good book (your blog) I am going to dive! ;-) I will just be resisting the urge to comment throughout like I usually do or I'll never ever ever catch up!!! =O I just want you to know that I've been here, lovely friend!

Love,

Katy xo

That is so sad! The worst part is, if there are books like that, it means she's not the only one. yikes! (And no, I didn't get this comment from a book! But now I wonder if there's one out there for blog comments!)

The sad thing is if these books are top sellers. I don't know I just have to shake my head....hugs.

Yikes!! Never heard of such a thing, but I'm afraid now I may look suspiciously at some of my friends' status updates.....

I'm new here and pleased to meet you, Kamana is it? . This conversation is amazing. It reminds me of those shops where you can buy books by weight as if the actual content matters not one bit at all. Books to fill our library with even if you never read a word. Thanks.

That makes me feel better about not checking out status updates on a daily basis!!!

>>> Facebook and its "special language", "lexicon" to part, incomprehensible in non-initiated, as tool of "formatting"("layout") of the spirit.
I am not on Facebook and this anecdote brought back(reported) there here consolidate in the decision not to go there. But that becomes difficult to keep in touch with "Facebookers" by the other channels(canals) of communication
