Open letter to the weekend

Dear Weekend,
You are due to arrive tomorrow, but I wanted to take a moment to let you know just how much I am looking forward to you being here. So much so that thoughts of you have had me a little too distracted to focus fully on work. I just need, need, need, my Friday morning smile and if there was any way in which those can happen every single day, I would be a very happy girl.

I want you to know that when you do get here, we are going to have a wonderful time. Just you and I. When you are around, the conversation never stops and the laughter comes easily. Whatever we end up doing, I am always happy just being in your company.

You know what they say about good behaviour being rewarded by special treats, right? I am thinking that there may be some of those involved.

Just hurry up and get here.

Anxiously yours,
xox

Funnyly said but so true, so deep... i was so...
More, i needed my wednesday, often taken by meetings, or work days given in place of sathurdays becoming free, and when they were free i often needed them for doctor or somewhere else to go... but tried to have the date in the afternoon !!!

Weekends stopped being important to me long ago. Of course, I haven't worked in two years now but, even before that, for at least the past 21 years, four of us were always rotating call day/evening and night for after hours child sex abuse and adult rape cases. So often, I've had weekends interrupted by the ER calling with a case. One of my colleagues used to say, "You can make toast but you can't make a cake." We could go anywhere we wanted but we had to be at the hospital within 45 minutes after we were called.

I can't wait either! AND it's our second long weekend in a row, since we get the day after easter off, because it's "Sham el Nessim" an ancient Egyptian feast and this Sunday is Egyptian labor day.

I am one lucky girl.
Have a great weekend!

:-) You write a very nice letter. And I'm sure "weekend" will certainly appreciate your open attention to it. Here's hoping you get a big smile and hug of approval from the "weekend" when it finally arrives! ^_^
