Woman I have just met looks me up and down and says: "You are Dr. N's sister, right?"
I confirm that indeed I am.
She asks: "Younger sister?"
I reply in the affirmative.
She is still not happy until she has said her piece: "But you look older. Must be because you are fat."
Charming, isn't she? Just what I needed to hear at the end of a long day.
~I should have posted a picture of a hippo or a walrus or something to go with the anecdote I suppose, but I thought that the circular shape of this shell could be taken to represent me adequately~

Sharp intake of breathe over here! How rude some people are.
just laugh of this... of her...
SHE has a problem, in fact !
tomorrow, it's birthday of my sister, and soon yours ? Be happy with your family! I wish you a lot of blessings.
You are a good person, a good mother, o good pro, good friend, good writer, good photograph, and she, why do she need making herself evalue persons on the pound ? an anorexic person? Unable a like herself ?
no importance... be you !
I do hope she is very old and has some dementia...otherwise she is just rude!
Oh my goodness, some people are bizarre. Don't let the weirdos get to you. Your body is beautiful, a gift lovingly crafted by God, and it stores all the precious things about you.
And that is one amazing photograph.
By the way, just now seeing your picture in your sidebar ... I withdraw my previous comment, because seriously, you are NOT fat. Most definitely not. She must have just been nasty for the sake of it.
Really? if that is your picture on the sidebar, she must be on hallucinogens; if not, she's really rude. (I gained several pounds after the birth of my child---never really lost them, and i still can't get over my "concerned" relatives' insensitivity...makes my hackles rise each time!!) and sice when is fat=old??? somebody explain that equation to me please.
Good grief! That poor woman must have some problems. Dealing with the public brings a lot of weird experiences. Laughing off her rudeness is probably the best reaction. (I thought the photo was an onion to illustrate her bad taste)>
I've had this happen to me, too. Not the fat = old thing, just htat I am somehow doing something wrong in my life because I am overwieght. People are rude. I probably would have pointed out to her that I may be fat but at least I'm not rude, but that's just me.
xo Erin
did the purse hanging from your arm accidently swing around and smack her in the back of her head ?
I'm with Beth (above!!!). First of all, you are perfect and beautiful AND you appear to be tiny. How rude and ignorant was that lady??!!! Now I can laugh so I hope you are! Hug, Kathy ♥ {Oh, I got my arms around you so easily, must be because you are so petite!}
My sharp tongue would have said something like,
"Nope I'm not fat, he's just anorexic."
Then I would have called my brother and apologize for what I just said about him :o/
oh wow - the rudeness of some people. big hugs to you
?!?!?!?!?!? you got to be kidding me, too bad I wasnt standing there could have punched her fat face
You should have just jabbed her in her bony behind with the pointy end of that shell and watched her keel over face first in the sand!!!Oh I know...make a straw figure of her and stick some needles into it! Ok, so maybe not very kind or constructive ideas here....just pity her for her rudeness and thank yourself you are not like her! How lucky you are to be living in the Maldives!!! Have an awesome day Kamana!
Ok. Totally rude. Pay no attention.
Hehe, I love Beth's comment. Too funny and spot on.
Impolite!! I can imagine a child coming up with this but not an adult.
how terrible!
Oh, that is horrible! I am so sorry. {hug}
Although, words can sting. Do you ever laugh at people like that??? And, she is...... unable to measure her words out with kindness? Candid? Fat, too? blind - jealous - so many other things. I wonder why, why, why.
Kamana, you are deep souled like a dark, lush, cool pool at the base of a waterfall - a beautiful mother reflected in lovely children - a woman with large eyes that take in beauty that is large as a sunset and small as a tiny shell. Well, that's a little of what I can see, anyway. =]
