From princess to astronaut

This picture was taken when he was not quite two,
and it's one of those ones
that I think I shall save to show future girlfriends.
"I am a princess!" he had told me with big happy grin,
when he saw me watching him play
dressed in his sister's poncho
and princess tiara.
***
Today my little Hero turns five.
Dreams of royalty now thankfully abandoned,
he now aspires to be an astronaut when he grows up,
"because I can't really be another spiderman, can I?"
***
When I wished my big boy a happy birthday
as he woke up this morning,
he asked:
"I don't feel like being a big boy.
Can I still be your baby, mamma?"

:D I know other little boys who have been photographed wearing their big sister's dress-ups. Hehe. All sweet. Astronaut is a great goal.

How sweet, how touching, he will one day realize that he will always be your baby...

My two year old granddaughter recently took offence when I mentioned she was my baby...she said I am not a baby...I am a girl...:)

As I look at my sons, no 39, 27 and 25, I, sometimes have trouble recounting their precious baby years. They grow up so fast. Of course, they are wonderful now but I wish I could travel back into time to those baby days!!
