Mosaic Monday: Poppy Power

Poppies are intriguing. Fabulously colourful. And never fail to make my heart smile.

What software do others use to create their lovely mosaics? I use this one, and it is giving me grief. The photos take forever to upload and I don't have that kind of patience. :) So any suggestions are most welcome!

Have a great week!

That's the one I use too and it's so clumsy to use for sure. This mosaic is beautiful though!

Lovely poppy!!!

I use BHL's software to create my mosaics too and I must admit, while it's not brilliant, I find it's the least clunky of the lot (unless one wants to buy software). I've found that it helps if I save a small copy of the picture/s I want to upload first so that it's not trying to upload big files... Other than that, I'm afraid I can't offer any help. Sorry!

I have never seen a poppy such as this! it's gorgeous!!!

p.s. I use BHL also and agree with uploading times. have you tried copying and pasting url's instead? this works if you are creating a mosaic from photos already uploaded to flickr. go to the page of the photo (not the stream), copy the url and paste it on the line of the mosaic creator where you want it (it helps to have two windows open.).

I love my blooming poppies too, only they don't last long. I use the same one you do, I agree with Lisa though, if you use URL's its quicker, but using your own photos does sometimes take long to upload. I usually have 4 windows open.....blogspot, flickr, mosaics, and then whatever I'm working on for my actual work so that I at least get something accomplished during waiting times.

I love poppies too - and at all stages, their papery petals, the pods green and dried...

And as far as writing a book - GO FOR IT!!!

What is "BHL"? I use picnik.com. The basic (free)program allows maybe 4 pictures, in a variety of arrangements. I can't remember for sure, but you can go to the website and check it out. Access to everything is about 25.00 a year, which I have subscribed to as I use it a lot. I can print it out in many sizes, as well, which I like. Upload isn't bad, and I don't always resize before doing that. good luck. I just love mosaic/collage.

Poppies have a special place in my memory chest. One sunny Saturday a friend and I hopped into our car and headed towards the vineyards close to where she lives. We parked and started meandering through the farm roads just taking randon pictures. The next minute we turned a corner and in front of us stood a huge old farm house that was no longer being lived in. The low wall that cornered off the area around the house was a mass of red. Poppies were blooming through every crevice and cranny. It was magnificent and we spent hours there.

Rather late but then i've only just found your blog. I use GIMP. It's a full graphics package like photoshop but open source so free. I know that sounds over kill but once you learn the basics you can do any size, shape etc you want and it really isn't hard, in fact if you want to try I'll do a little tutorial as I keep meaning to have a go at writing one or two.
